Is tahajjud prayer necessary every day, even if one is sick or on a night journey?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Once we start tahajjud prayers, is it necessary that the prayer should be performed every day invariably. If yes, what if one falls sick and bedridden, and if he is on a night journey with no convenience to offer prayers?

It is not necessary and wajib to offer tahajjud salah rather it is a nafl prayer which reports lots of virtues in hadith. Thus if someone offers tahajjud then it is very virtuous. But if tahajjud is missed due to illness or journey then there is no sin.
