What are the criteria used to determine if a store is truly halal?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
If Muslim Stores have halal sign, is it okay to eat from there as in if they say they are halal but are not in actuality yet we are unaware of that since they claim to be?

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

(Fatwa: 259/181/Sd=3/1439)

If the shop belongs to a Muslim and he has assured you of halal, then you should not have any doubt merely on the basis of suspicion. You may consume it. However, if you have strong doubts then it is better to confirm it.
