Do I need to pay zakah & fitrah on top of taxes paid to govt?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I am working in a private organization and I am eligible for tax. The company deducts my tax and rout it to the govt. My question is even after paying taxes, do I need to pay zakah and fitrah during Eid? Kindly reply.

Yes, there is difference between tax and zakah. Tax is imposed by the government while zakah is ordained by Allah on one’s wealth after completion of one year whatsoever is saved, it is necessary to pay fortieth part of it to the poor and needy ones and it is great virtue. Zakah is an act of worship while income tax is oppression. Thus it is mandatory to pay zakah though one pays tax to the government.
