When To Recite Surah Waqiyah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta Azaadville

Question:

Please advise with regards to SURAH WAQIYAH can one recite it after asr or should it only be recited after Maghrib

Answer:

Surah Waqi’ah should be read at night because it is mentioned in a Hadeeth that Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud Radhiyallahu Anhu reported that Rasulullah ﷺ said:

‘Surah Waqi’ah will become a protection from poverty for the one who recites it Every Night’ ‘Sayyiduna Ibn Mas’ud Radhiyallahu Anhu would order his daughters to recite it Every Night.’

So, considering the above Hadeeth, one may recite it any time (after Maghrib) at night before going to sleep. There is no harm if for any reason it was recited after Asr. But remember, mention of the Night is mentioned in the above Hadeeth and not the Day, so it would be preferable to recite it at night.
