1-Our Masjid burial committee in the UK is collecting money to buy a Traditional Hearse funeral car. Is it permissible for Muslims to use Traditional Hearse funeral cars similar to the one in the first picture http://www.peacefunerals.co.uk/Transport.html to transport the deceased to the Qabrastan (grave yard), when someone passes away or is it a sin?
2-If a masjid already has a Traditional Hearse funeral car will it be permissible to use it to transport the deceased to the Qabrastan or should one use or hire a simple Van etc instead?
3-If its not permissible and a sin to use to use Traditional Hearse funeral cars for transporting the deceased to the grave yard for burial then please give reason?JZK
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
We have seen the pictures of the hearse in the link provided by you. It is permissible to use a hearse to transport the deceased to the cemetery. A hearse bears no religious implications.[i] It is designed and used by people of other religions for convenience.[ii]
