Masah on Leather Socks

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askmufti.co.za
Q: I do wudu, pray salaat, (e.g. fajr) and thereafter put on my leather socks before my wudu breaks, about half an hour after I’ve prayed fajr. I then break my wudu (by passing wind or going to the toilet). I then do wudu for zuhr, however this time I do masah on my leather socks. Will I have been correct in assuming everything is fine? Or do I have to put on my leather socks before I pray my fajr?

A: You have assumed correctly. It is not necessary to wear the leather socks at the time of Fajr. Your Masah time will begin from the time your Wudhu broke, after wearing the leather socks.
