Praying behind Salafis who wipe over normal socks. Having thoughts of kufr.

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

1)i WORK IN A CHOCOLATE FACTORY WHERE MAJORITY OF THE MUSLIM BROTHERS ARE SALAFIS. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THEY DO MASAH OVER NORMAL SOCKS. I DO NOT WANT TO CREATE TROUBLE THAT IS WHY I JOIN THEM IN SALAAH AND THEN WHEN THEY SAY SALAAM I BREAK MY SALAAH AND START ALL OVER AGAIN. IS THIS MAKING FUN OF SALAAH TALING ME OUT OF THE FOLD OF ISLAM?

2)IF YOU MAKE STATEMENTS OF KUFR IN HEART ABOUT ALLAH WHILE ANGRY WHICH I TRY TO STOP, BUT FOR SOME REASON WHENEVER SOMETHING WRONG HAPPENS MY HEART RECEIVE THOUGHTS THAT I SHOULD BLAME ALLAH, WHERE I KNOW IT IS WRONG, AND I HAVE TO FIGHT THESE THOUGHTS OR HAVING THOUGHTS OF SHIRK IN HEART, DOES THAT MAKE ONE KAFIR.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Assalāmu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullāhi wa barakātuh

  1. It is not permissible to follow an imām who you know to have made wudū’ incorrectly.[1] It is also not permissible to pretend to follow such an imām.[2] As such, we advise you to avoid praying in congregation with the group in reference, and if questioned, explain to them respectfully that it is not permissible for you to pray with them.
  1. Merely having such thoughts does not make one a kāfir. In fact, your efforts to fend off these thoughts is a clear sign of īmān.[3] In future, ignore these involuntary thoughts. Ignoring them will lead to them going away. You may also recite the following dhikr upon encountering such thoughts:

لا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله

And Allah Ta‘ālā Knows Best
