Can Muslims practice tai chi?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Can Muslims practice tai chi?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Tai chi is a widely practiced martial art today for both its defense training and health benefits.[1] As such, if tai chi is practiced without having any activities with religious connotations, or any un-Islamic elements with the intention of maintaining good health and physical strength, it will be permissible.[2]
