Is it permissible for males to use deodorant during Salāh?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I would like to know if it is permissible for males to use deodorant during Salāh.  To my knowledge, the alcohol content evaporates, leaving only the scent.  Please clarify.  Awaiting your response.

Answer

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Deodorants containing alcohol derived from grapes or dates are impermissible for usage.  However, deodorants containing alcohol derived from other sources are permitted if all other ingredients are Halāl.
Generally the deodorants nowadays do not contain alcohol derived from grapes or dates.
Hence, Salāt performed after applying such deodorants is valid.
