What do I do if I read thanaa in both rakaat of Fajr?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Instead of reading Sanna just once during the 2 sunnats of Fajr Salah, I read it once in each rakat.

Please advise what steps should be taken to correct this error.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu `alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is sunnah to recite the thana (proclamative praises) in the first Rakaat of every Salaah.[1] The thana should not be recited in any other rakaat besides the first rakaat. However, if it is recited in any other Rakaat of the Salaah, it would not render the Salaah void.[2] In future, do not recite the thana in other rakaats.

And Allah knows best.
