What do I say after the prayer? Following tasleem of a prayer, what must be said?

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Is it ok to say dua in english using whatever comes to mind, or do they have to be certain arabic duas? Thank you. Wa alaikum as salamu.

Answer

After the Tasleem, there are Masnoon (Sunnah) Du’aas to be recited, for example, ?Rabbanaa aatinaa fid-dunyaa hasanatan, wa fil aakhirat hasanatan, wa qinaa adhaaban-naar. Allaahumma a-innaa alaa dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni ibaadatika?

However, if a person has some need and he makes Du’aa in English, then it is totally permissible to make Du’aa in English.

Some Du’aas to be read after Salaat:
? ?Allaahumma antas-salaamu wa minkas-salaamu, tabaarakata yaa dhal-jalaal wal ikraam.? (Al-Azkaar of Imaam Nawawi pg.71)

? ?Allaahumma a-inniy alaa dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni ibaadatika.? (ibid pg.73)

? ‘Allaahumma inniy a?oodhu bika an uradda ilaa ardhalil umr, wa a?oodhu bika min fitnatid-Dunyaa wa a?oodhu bika min adhaabil-Qabr.? (Bukhari Hadith6374)

? ?Allaahumma inniy a?oodhu bika min adhaabin-naaar, wa adhaabil qabr, wa min fitnatil mahyaa wal mamaati, wa sharril maseehid-dajjaal.? (Haakim vol.1 pg.273)

? ?Allaahumma inniy as-aluka fi?lal khayraat wa tarkal munkiraati, wa hubbal masaakin, wa izaa aradta bi ibaadika fitnatan faqbidhny ilayka ghayra maftoon.? (Tirmidhi Hadith 3233)
