Is it obligatory for a grandparent to have the right to name their grandchild or do the parents have first right?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

We, the parents, went ahead and named our child with a Muslim name. Does the grandparent have the right to feel offended and therefore have no contact with their own child?

Answer

The parents have the right to name their child. It is incorrect for grandparents to feel offended for not having the choice of naming their grandchild.
