Why do Muslim not make Friday a holy day, by going to rest at their homes after the prayers, as is the case with the Christians on Saturday and Sunday?

In Muslim states, Friday is a public holiday. Similarly, most Islamic institutions in non-Muslim countries, have Friday as their public holidays.
