Answer

1. It is not permissible for men and women to wear imitation rings. Men are permitted to wear silver rings with the condition that it does not weigh more than 4.374 grams and women are permitted to wear rings made of silver or gold. (Raddul Muhtaar vol.6 pg.360). It is permissible for women to wear other jewellery, necklace, bracelet, earrings, etc. that are made from other metals besides gold or silver. (Bahishti Zewar vol.3 pg.62)

2. It is permissible for men and women to wear silver plated rings. (Raddul Muhtaar vol.6 pg.360)

3. Nabi [sallallaahu alayhi wasallam] has prohibited the wearing of imitation rings. There were many occasions when Nabi [sallallaahu alayhi wasallam] had seen people wear imitation rings and reprimanded them. Once, Nabi [sallallaahu alayhi wasallam] saw a person wearing a ring made of iron and reprimanded him saying, ‘Why is it that I see you wearing the adornment of the people of Jahannum.’ (Tabyeenul Haqaaiq vol.7 pg.35).
