i have been married for over 6 years. i was forced into marriage.we have nothing in common. i only agreed due to fear of my parents. it has never been a marriage since day 1. we live in different countries,he lives and works in US,we have never lived together. i want a divorce and he has agreed to this, he says he will come back to my country and give divorce but has been saying this for a few years now. there is no chance of a reconciliation. im very depressed as i want to get rid of this marriage which was forced upon me. please help and advise me.
After making proper Mashwarah (consultations) with the responsible parties and also making Istikhaara, if you are still decided on getting the Talaaq, then your husband could issue the divorce either by way of writing or telephonically.
Talaaq issued by the medium of letter is valid and the Iddat will commence immediately from the time the letter was written even though you have not as yet received it. (Ahsanul Fataawa part5 pg.148)
