What does the name Owais mean, as in Owais al-Karni?

Uways, dimunitive form of the word ‘Aws’ meaning, a gift, present, etc.

Qarni is probably a reference to Qarn – name of a place. Qarni, one
belonging, residing in or having some link to Qarn.
