Answer 2809 2001-05-07 Generally, glycerine is extracted from animal fat. The other question was Question 1143 from Other Country/Island Previous Can we use glycerin? Someone told me that its not permissible so i would like to know what it contains that makes it haraam. Answer 1143 2000-10-15 Glycerine used in cakes, sweets and most foostaff may be consumed. Glycerine in other items may not be consumed. Was salam Ml. Answer

A syrup liquid obtained as a by-product of animal fat such as tallow. Also synthetically manufactured which is free of any animal derivatives – synthetic glycerine is permissible. Glycerine obtained from animal fat is generally not acceptable since the fat is sourced from a non-Halaal animal. Types acceptable:- English Rose, My Baby, Dolly Varden and Amca product.
