There is a name I would like to one day use for a boy. The name is “Deen” as in “religion”. Is this ok to use?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

There is a name I would like to one day use Insha?Allah for a boy. I just need to know if it is allowed in Islam to use this as a name. Some have told me no, some say it’s ok. Please, Insha?Allah you can help me resolve this. The name is ?Deen? as in ?religion?. Is this ok to use? If not, what sites would provide modern names but with an Arabic or Islamic origin. Do you have any suggestions? Jazak Allah Khairun.

Answer

The word, ?Deen? has many meanings ? religion, to profess, to adhere, pious and religious.
