Is it permissible to be a “juicer”?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Asalalamu Alayqum

Here in my locality (Wellington, New Zealand) they might be planning on introducing Lime Scooters.

Basically they are scooters that are parked around in public areas and anyone can use them by paying using an app on their phone.

To charge them, they require people to sign up as “juicers” who bring the scooters home and charge them themselves. A juicer gets paid around $8 for each scooter that he charges. After charging it, he has to put the scooter back in a public area.

Here is more information on juicers if you want: See here

Is it allowed in Islam for someone to work as a juicer and is the income Halaal?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

According to the information provided, a juicer will charge a scooter upon request and charge a fee for his service which is included in the overall fee. In principle, it is permissible for one to provide a halal service and charge a fee,[1]  as long as there are no un-Islamic clauses in the contract.
