Am I considered a Musafir travelling the safr distance without intention?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

I have travelled to a location outside of my locality covering less than the safr distance. Soon after I traveled to a nearby locality. The distance between my town and the second locality is more than the safr distance. Will I be a musafir considering I never intended safr distance leaving my town and never had intention to actually travel further than the original destination?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

One will be considered a Musafir when he exits the boundaries of his locality intending to travel the safr distance or more. Mere coverage of the safr distance will not qualify one to be a Musafir. Hence, you will not be a Musafir in the second locality.[1]
