Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Are we allowed to name our newborn baby girl Fatima Al-Zahra?

Answer

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

May Allaah Ta’aala make your daughter the coolness of your eyes. Aameen.

Sayyidah Faatimah (Radhiyallaahu ‘anhaa) was the beloved daughter of Rasulullaah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) and the wife of Sayyiduna ‘Ali (Radhiyallaahu ‘anh).

The word faatimah is derived from the Arabic word fatima which literally means to abstain (in this case from sin and vice). Zahraa means bright and radiant[1].

It is permissible to name your daughter Faatimah Zahraa.

And Allaah Ta’aala Knows Best.
