How to make up for missed Salaahs and fasts

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I am 30 years old this year and its been only 3 years or so that I have started fasting, but I have not still kept those that I missed for menstruations. I would like to know what should I do? I am very guilty and feel very bad about it. I have made tauba not to miss fasts again. But what can I do about my past? Same about salaah?

A: Estimate the number of fasts and salaah that were missed. For every fast and salaah that was missed keep one fast and perform that salaah. For example, you estimated that you have missed 500 fasts than keep 500 fasts and you estimated that you missed out 1000 salaah then make up by doing those 1000 salaah. However, you will only have to do the fardh and witr of every salaah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
