TBHQ found in seasoning

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Q. I would like to find out if the ingredient TBHQ which is found in the seasoning in some pack noodles are halal. From research I have done on the internet I have found people saying that if it has a carrier like vegetable oil it could be halal. I am in doubt about this ingredient and I do not want to consume it if it is haram. Could you please shed some light on this product.

A. Tertiary Butylhydroquinone (TBHQ – E 319) is an antioxidant which is synthetic and is permissible to use. In some cases where it is made into a solution, the carrier must be determined. However, in this case, found in the seasoning, it is halal as in other dry products.
