Our Masjid is far – ok to pray at home?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Question

Salaam,

I lived in a small town in Scotland and our town Masjid is far away from my house, also I don’t have driving license. Is it OK for me to read Namaz at home?

Answer

You haven’t left any choice for me.  Do your best to go to a masjid; where this is not possible, pray at home.  One sahabi radiallahu anhu who was nearly blind asked permission from Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam to pray at home.  He permitted him to do so then, when the sahabi began to leave, he called him back and asked, “Do you hear the adhan?”  He replied, “Yes, I do.”  “Then respond!” was the instruction.
