Fasting for Over Twenty Hours

Q: I live in the north of Finland the sun rises at 02.30 am and sets at 10.35 pm. Do I have to fast for over twenty hours and what about next year when the day is more shorter and the year after?

A: You will have to fast and take sehri according to the subh saadiq and sunset timings.

( وهو ) لغة إمساك مطلقا شرعا ( إمساك عن المفطرات ) الآتية ( حقيقة أو حكما ) كمن أكل ناسيا فإنه ممسك حكما ( في وقت مخصوص ) وهو اليوم ( من شخص مخصوص ) مسلم كائن في دارنا أو عالم بالوجوب طاهر عن حيض أو نفاس ( مع النية ) المعهودة

و قال في رد المحتار : قوله ( وهو اليوم ) أي اليوم الشرعي من طلوع الفجر إلى الغروب (رد المحتار 2/370)
