Dhikr in washrooms (not toilets)

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Is it makruh or mustahab to perform recite supplications during wudhu and one is performing the wudhu in the sink adjacent to the toilet of the bathroom? There are some bathrooms that are well-kept and clean (i.e. there are no visible traces of najasa). However, one scholar mentioned that a screen should be put up to separate the toilet from the sink and then it would be okay to do dhikr while doing wudhu. What is the popular position on this issue?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

This answer was indexed from Qibla.com, which used to have a repository of Islamic Q&A answered by various scholars. The website is no longer in existence. It has now been transformed into a learning portal with paid Islamic course offering under the brand of Kiflayn.
