While we were in taraweeh, the imam accidentally recited one part of Surah Faatir before in the first rakah, and in the second rakah, recited the previous portion. Upon finishing, he mentioned this fact and said, maybe we should re-do the Taraweeh salah due to him not proceeding in the proper sequence of the Surah, even though no mistake in the wording was made. People consulted for a short while and it was decided not to re-do the Salah.
Was the Imam correct in NOT re-doing the salah? And while we individually make Salah, should we follow the sequence of how the Sura’s are placed in the quran, or is it permissible to read different surahs in salah, while trying to choose a longer one in the first rak’ah and a shorter one in the second rakah.

Recitation in salah should always be in sequence and it is makruh to intentionally recite contrary to sequence. However doing so does not invalidate the salah. Hence there was no need to redo the Tarawih in this case.
