Sleight-of-Hand Tricks and Illusions aren`t from Prohibited Magic

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Darul Iftaa Jordan
What is the ruling of Sharia on working as a performer of sleight-of-hand tricks and illusions?

Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds, and may His peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions. Sleight-of-hand tricks involve the performance of illusions and the occasional deception of the eyes, but they don`t involve prohibited acts of magic. However, it is better for a Muslim to busy his time with doing what is useful instead of learning and practicing useless tricks. And Allah knows best.
