Do you have any du’aa to build love?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Asalam-o-Alkium,

I want to inquire if there is a dua or surat which will help someone in our life love us more.
My fiancé was very happy for our marriage until recently I have noticed a big change in him and the way he respects and loves me.
I don’t want to go forward in a relationship with him until he falls in love with me and likes me for who I am. I want him to respect me.

Kindly if you can tell me of a surah or dua which will help my fiancé build love towards me please tell me. If possible tell me the steps and procedure I should follow to perform and what I should do to be careful that it does not have any side effects.

Thank you.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Sister it seems as if you have the wrong perception about love and marriage in Islam.

Pre-marital relations of any kind is prohibited in Islam. Whether someone is your fiancé or not this has no bearing on the prohibition of your relationship with this person. In Islam love is something built over the relationship of marriage. There is no contact or love between two individuals before marriage.

You should not speak to this person nor have any form of contact with him before marriage. Contact before marriage deprives the marriage of barakah. If one truly wishes to have a long and lasting marriage then he/she should tread in the way Allah Ta’ala has prescribed. You can read the following Dua for a prosperous marriage;

Rabbanā hab lanā min azwājinā wa zhuriyātinā qurrata a’ayun wa ja’alnā lil mutaqīna imāmā

“Oh our lord! Grant us in our spouses and our children the joy of our eyes. Moreover make us an exemplar of goodness for the God-fearing.”
