Is a Woman Allowed To Read Surah Ikhlaas as a Wazifa During Menstruation

Question:

Is a woman allowed to read Surah Ikhlaas as a wazifa during menstruation?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

During the time of menstruation, a woman is not permitted to recite the Quran.

This is due to the hadith of the Prophet (saw):

لاَ تَقْرَإِ الْحَائِضُ وَلاَ الْجُنُبُ شَيْئًا مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ

“The menstruating woman does not recite – nor the Junub – anything from the Qur’an.” [1]

Reciting any surah or ayat from the Quran is only permissible in the case of dua and dhikr. Therefore you can read Surah Al-Ikhlaas as part of your duas of protection, but not for the sake of recitation.

Only Allah (SWT) alone knows best
