Do Jinn Have Emotions?

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Question: Do Jinn have emotions?

Answer:

Wa alaykum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Dear questioner,

Thank you for your important question.

Yes, most likely they do.

However, more importantly, let us ask ourselves whether or not we can draw nearer to Allah by knowing the answer to this question. If we think a little, we will realize that given that we do not and should not interact with the Jinn, and we cannot really benefit from knowing the answer to this question. Thus, it would be better to occupy ourselves with that which can benefit us in the Next Life.

Our beloved Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), he who was so desperately keen for our good in this Life and the Hereafter, said, “It is of the beauty of a person’s faith that he leave that which does not concern him.” [Tirmidhi, Ibn Hibban, and others]

Whenever we ask a question about Islam, we should ask ourselves how knowing the answer can make us better Muslims.

I pray this helps.
