Q. Kindly advise if it is necessary or part of Shariah to give a tip at a restaurant?
A. Tips that are given at a restaurant are not considered to be part of a transaction nor is it considered to be a condition for the validity of a transaction.
Tips are simply a gift (Hibah) to the restaurant or waiters.
It is encouraged but it is not necessary to do so.
