What types of silk are prohibited for men to wear?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by TheMufti.com

Q. Are all types of silk prohibited for men?

A. Sayyiduna Abu Musa Al-Ashari (Radhiyallahu Anhu) reports that Rasulullah Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam said: “Gold and silk have been permitted for the females of my Ummah, and forbidden to the males.” (Musnad Ahmad)

In the above Hadith, the type of silk, which is not allowed for men, is pure silk. It does not refer to manufactured silk, which is commonly and readily available in the market. Pure silk is rarer to come across and is more expensive than manufactured silk.
