JUMUAH/DHUHR FOR A TRAVELER

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

QUESTION:

As Salaamu Alaikum

Can you please clarify whether or not as a traveler you are exempted from attending Jumuah. (Jazaak Allahu Khair).

ANSWER:

Wa Alaikum As Salaam,

Jumuah is not essential upon a traveler. And so, he/she will be exempted from attending it.

In its place, dhuhr Salah must be performed. However, if the traveler attends the Jumuah and performs the Salah, this will be valid and accepted, and he/she would not be required to  perform dhuhr Salah (Fatawa Haqqaniya Vol. 3 page. 374)
