FARDH SALAH AND CRYING BABY

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

QUESTION:

As Salaamu Alaikum.

Yesterday my wife and I along with our 6 month old baby went to break our fast at the masjid, after breaking the fast it was time for isha Salah. During the Salah I can hear my baby started crying loudly around the third rakat, my wife was in Salah when my baby started crying. Afterwards she told me someone came to her and said she supposed to break the Salah and take up the baby. My question is should my wife have stop a fard Salah led by the imam and take up the baby even though she was in the third rakat?

ANSWER:

Wa Alaikum As Salaam,

If the baby was crying in a manner which created a lot of noise and disturbance to the other members who were performing their Salah, then it was best for your wife to lift up the baby and continue the Fardh Salah by holding the baby, if this was possible. However, if this could not be done, then she was required to end her Salah and attend to the baby. After wards, she would have repeated her Salah.
