Question: Assalamu alaikum,
my question:
Is it necessary to ask the first wife permission (or inform) to marry a second wife?
Answer: Wa Alaikum As Salaam,
It is not necessary to ask the first wife for permission to marry a second wife. However, she should be informed of this marriage, less it creates problems between the spouses when she gains knowledge of the second marriage.
