Indirectly smelling the perfume of a woman

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: What is the ruling on a woman who has cats. She applies some perfume, or moisturises herself with a scented lotion. She holds, and plays with her cats, and the scent rubs off onto them. An hour or two later, the family gets guests, the guests see the cats and get excited. They wish to hold and play with the cats. Amongst the guests are ghair mahram males. In this case they will smell the women’s fragrance on the cat. Is she branded an adulteress?

Bismillaah

A: No.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
