Having a bath after the first azaan of Jumuah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q:

1. On the day of jumuah, after the first azan, can I still have a bath and thereafter proceed to the masjid? Or should I just suffice on wudhu?

2. Which azan should I consider, the azan of my masjid which is a little later, or the azan of the jami masjid of my area which is earlier?

Bismillaah

A:

1. Both are correct. However, it is among the sunnats of the jumuah that you come early to the musjid. This will mean that you come before the azaan. It is also a sunnat that you take ghusl for the salaah.

2. We have not come across any clear report in this respect. However, it will appear that you will consider the azaan of the musjid that you will attend.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
