Praying with Oral Surgery: How Long Can You Join Prayers?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If one has oral surgery due to having a wisdom tooth removed, and therefore has constant bleeding in their mouth for days, are they allowed to join prayers? If so how long are they allowed to join prayers? Is it until the pain ends or until the bleeding stops?

Bismillaah

A: Joining two salaahs and performing them in one salaah time is not permissible. Allah Ta’ala says in the Quraan Shareef “Salaah has been ordained upon the believers to be performed upon its prescribed time.” If the blood continuously flows then in such a situation, one will be a mazoor and the law of a mazoor will apply to him. A mazoor will make wudu at the beginning of the salaah time and thereafter perform salaah. The coming out of blood will not cause the wudu to break.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
