Refusing to accept exchanges and refunds on sale items

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Is it permissible for a shop to advertise “no exchange/refunds on sale items”. The sale items are not defective. They are marked down probably because of not selling quick enough or, just a normal sale. Is such a condition valid?

Bismillaah

A: Yes. However, it is in the spirit of a good Muslim businessman to refund.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
