Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Brother in Islam,

Allah Ta’ala mentions in the Qur’am:

Translation: Allah chooses for Himself whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him]. (As-Shura: 13)

The changes in your life is a clear manifestation of Allah’s favour on you. Allah has drawn you towards Him. Allah has given you the realisation of wrong and He has given you the ability to repent. Brother, everyone has a past, and everyone has a present. The past has passed, and the future is a present from Allah. We advise you to focus on the love and mercy of Allah. Allah has mentioned in the Qur’an:

Translation: Say (to my servants Oh Rasulullah), do not be despondent of the mercy of Allah over that which you have transgressed. Verily, Allah is the forgiver of all sins. He is the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Zumar: 53)

Furthermore, the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) has mentioned:

Translation: Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) having said: By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if you were not to commit sin, Allah would sweep you out of existence and He would replace (you by) those people who would commit sin and seek forgiveness from Allah, and He would have pardoned them. ‏ (Muslim: 7141)

Brother, you made sincere Tawbah and you resolved never to commit the sins again. Now, be certain that you are forgiven. Never doubt the mercy and forgiveness of Allah.

The fact that you abhor the evils of the past and endeavour to get closer to Allah be rest assure that this is a sign of your Tawbah being accepted. Be positive and focus on the mercy of Allah.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
