If someone wants to decide what to do at the end of his college year, there are many options all of which are for the cause of Islam but he does not know which one to go ahead with, would it be right to pray Istikhara in this situation, when does one pray it, as soon as possible or nearing the time of his decision and how do you pray it?
1. Yes, one may perform Istikhaara Salaat in such a situation.
2. When confronted with a situation where one is uncertain about his decision, he should perform 2 Rakaats of Istikhaara Salaat. This is like any other normal Salaat. Thereafter, make Du’aa and beg Allah to guide you to the best option. Recite the Du’aa of Istikhaara if you know it. Thereafter, the inclination of your heart may be taken as a decision.
