Staying in parent’s house

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Asalaamu Alaikum Dear Respected Mufti Sahab,

We hope and pray that this letter finds you in the best of affairs.

I am a female who needs to work in a neighboring city. From the city limits of my house to the city it is beyond the Shari distance. But from my parents house to my work place it is within the limits. For four months myself and the kids will stay at our parents house until we can move. My husband and my mother-in-law will stay at our house. My parents house and my own house are close to each other (about 5-10 minutes drive) but they are in two different cities. While I am at my parents house, can I stay at my own house on the weekend? Do I need to stay at my parent’s house for a certain number of days before I can stay at my own house on the weekend?

Jazaak Allah Khair.

Answer

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Sister,

It is permissible for you to stay at your own house in the weekend. You do not have to stay at your parent’s house for any period of time before staying at your own house[1].

We do not understand the relevance of Shari’ee distance in your query. If you meant to ask something else in your query, you may revert to us.

And Allaah Ta’aala Knows Best
