The son of Sayyidah Ruqayyah (radiyallahu’anha)

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

I heard that Uthman ibn Affan (radiyallahu’anhu) had a son with Ruqayyah (radiyallahu’anha), but he passed away during or after the Battle of Badr. Is there a Hadith to back this up?

Answer

Yes, The historians and authors of seerah do mention that Sayyiduna ‘Uthman and Sayyidatuna Ruqayyah (radiyallahu’anhuma) did have a son by the name of ‘Abdullah while they were in Abyssinia.

It was Sayyidah Ruqayyah (radiyallahu’anha) who passed away in Madinah while Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) was busy in the battle of Badr.

Her son; ‘Abdullah passed away after her.
