Reciting dhikr in the Masjid when its forbidden (makruh) time for salah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

When entering the masjid at a forbidden time for salah, the Fuqaha (Jurists) say one must engage in dhikr.

Is there any proof for this from Hadith?

Answer

In a narration of Sahih Muslim (hadith: 285), Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) advised that the purpose of the Masjid is: salah, dhikr and Quran recital.

Therefore, if one enters the Masjid, and he cannot engage in salah, he is encouraged to occupy himself with the other deeds, i.e, dhikr and Quran recital.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
