Fudayl ibn ‘Iyad (rahimahullah) on remaining aloof

What is the reference for this Hadith?

“Glad tidings for those who remain aloof (secluded) from people, enjoy an intimate relation with Allah Ta’ala and cry over their sins”

Answer

Imam Abu Nu’aym and Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahumallah) have recorded this as the statement of Fudayl ibn ‘Iyad (rahimahullah) and not as a Hadith of Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). The narration should be quoted as such.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
