I pray that you are well. My question pertains to the Hadith that informs us that the throne of Allah shook at the death of Sa’d bin Mu’aadh (radiyallahu anhu).
I heard that the explanation for this was because Sa’d bin Mu’aadh was the one that gave the Prophet the nusrah (assistance) to establish the Khilafah in Madinah and hence for this great action and in reverence of it, Allah caused his throne to shake at his death.
Can you please confirm this with classical references or inform me of alternative explanations the ulama have given for this happening? Jazakallahu khayran dear ulama,
Answer
Firstly, the ‘Arsh actually shook due to its joy at the arrival of his soul.
Secondly, Sayyiduna Sa’d ibn Mu’adh (radiyallahu’anhu) was indeed from those leaders of Madinah who laid the foundation for the Hijrah, and thereon the spread of Islam. It is no surprise then, that the Throne of Our Creator was ecstatic at his meeting.
