Cutting and shaving the hair after umrah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I follow the shafi mathab, regarding cutting the hair in ihraam (I wear a wig):

1. The sides and back of my hair is my own – How much of this must trimmed?

2. The top part is bald with fine hair – can I shave that?

Bismillaah

A:

1. The sunnat is that all the hair should be trimmed to the length of a joint of the finger.

2. Yes. If you are shaving then shave all the hair. It is not right to cut part of the hair and shave part of the hair.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
