Q: Myself and future husband have decided we would like to get married as istikhara has guided us so. My future in laws have agreed as had my parents. But now my parents have become difficult. They have been ignorant in talking to me about the marriage in order to delay it and creating false opinions of my future husband’s character. I have now found out that behind my back my mother, someone in a different country through possible payment, a maulana and his wife have been reading wazifa for months to make me see my future husband as a bad person so I don’t marry him – this has not worked. Is wazifa permissible in Islam to do this upon someone’s relationship whilst disregarding istikhara?
A: All premarital relationships are impermissible in Islam. As long as the nikah does not take place, it is not permissible for you to be in contact with the person you wish to marry. If your parents and the boy’s parents have agreed to get you both married, then do not delay.
And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
