My question is that my cousin follows Shafai maslak and she asked me that whether she have to pay zakah on usable gold or not? According to her there is no zakah on usable gold in Shafai maslak, so what she should do, pay zakah or not? She has not paid zakah last year two now it will be the second time in this Muharram month? Now this time she is little bit confused either due to living with people of Hanafi maslak and seeing them paying zakah or due to some other reason. If she has to pay zakah can her husband pay zakah on behalf of her? Please give reference and guide us to the right path!

As per the Shafi’i maslak zakah is not wajib on the jewelleries which is in use but zakah is wajib as per the Hanafi Fiqh. Hence if your sister pays the zakah as precaution then surely she shall get reward.
